Electives Course


We all know that elective course can make a free space for everyone to show their strong points, develop their imaginations, creations and personal styles. Every term our school would offer a range of elective courses which you can choose according to your own areas of interest. I always read all course information and analysis which one is suitable for us study. This semester, I took an course about psychological health as my eclective course.

Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon that people go to have some psychological consultations, including students in school. I always face great pressure from study and life. Being depressed for a long time, I doubt if I am physically healthy. So I choose it as my eclective course of this term.

During the course, my mental state improved greatly. First and foremost, I tried to build up a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, I realized that we need to find different ways to relax ourselves when we face severe competition. Thirdly, we should be sympathetic. Thanks to the electives course.

Elective Course—Fashion and Image Design

All the universities offer various electives for students to choose. They may make different choices due to different reasons. But as far as I am concerned, Fashion and Image Design course is worth studying for each individual.

First, a good appearance may help us make a better impression in social contacts. The way we are dressed helps us to preserve a sense of our own value and personality. Second, Fashion adds spice to life with its rich color, variety, and beauty. The world will be a dull place to live in if we always wear clothes of the same style and color. And the third, also the most important, being well-dressed is of psychological importance. Because dress properly can enhance our self-confidence in appearance, which will lead to confidence in our success in life.

That’s the reason why I choose this course. The confident people are the most charming people, I believe that Fashion and Image Design will give you an unusual life.

Elective Course

As a college student in the new era, we should pay attention not only to human deveploment, but also to harmonious co-existence between man and nature. In the beginning of the term, I chose an elective related to the environment. I want to learn some theory concerning environmental protection.

Though it may be hard for some people to willingly accept, no one，regardless of race, religion or nationality, can deny that the world we live in is becoming increasingly intolerable because of the effects of global warming. But the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. This is the reason that I took the course.

In the course, I have learned many problems that I have never realized before. It is urgent that immediate and effetive actions should be taken right away. As an individual, there are lots way to reduce the global warming: to ride a bike instead of a car; to use environmental plastic bags and so on. Moreover we can call people to plant more trees which help improve and beautify the environment.

The more loving care showed for the environment, the more beautiful the world will become. Let us do our own bit towards protecting the environment. Let us be doing!

As never before in their long history, universities have become instruments of national competition as well as instruments of peace. They are the place of the scientific discoveries that move economies forward, and the primary means of educating the talent required to obtain and maintain competitive advantage. But at the same time, the opening of national borders to the flow of goods, services, information and especially people has made universities a powerful force for global integration, mutual understanding and geopolitical stability.
In response to the same forces that have driven the world economy, universities have become more self-consciously global: seeking students form around the world who represent the entire range of cultures and values, sending their own students abroad to prepare them for global careers, offering courses of study that address the challenges of an interconnected world and collaborative (合作的) research programs to advance science for the benefit of all humanity.
Of the forces shaping higher education none is more sweeping than the movement across borders. Over the past three decades the number of students leaving home each year to study abroad has grown at an annual rate of 3.9 percent, from 800,000 in 1975 to 2.5 million in 2004. Most travel from one developed nation to another, but the flow from developing to developed countries is growing rapidly. The reverse flow, from developed to developing countries, is on the rise, too. Today foreign students earn 30 percent of the doctoral degrees awarded in the United States and 38 percent of those in the United Kingdom. And the number crossing borders for undergraduate study is growing as well, to 8 percent of the undergraduates at America’s best institutions and 10 percent of all undergraduates in the U.K. In the United States, 20 percent of the newly hired professors in science and engineering are foreign-born, and in China many newly hired faculty members at the top research universities received their graduate education abroad.
